Herein we present a mild, simple and environmentally friendly diazotization protocol of aromatic heteroaromatic anilines into stable diazonium salts that surpass previously reported procedures. The reaction proceeds with tert -butyl nitrite in the presence an equimolar amount or small excesses p -toluenesulfonic acid ethyl acetate, at room temperature. o -Phenylenediamines yield benzotriazolium tosylates. resulting tosylates proved to be bench over long period time. In selected examples, were let react activated compounds including 2-naphthol aniline derivatives corresponding azo dyes. • It provides easy access employs mild conditions, using inexpensive reagents. Tosylate counterion increases stability salt. Diazonium readily afford compounds.
